Marriott, Ritz Carlton Sued by Service Staff for Wage Violations

A hotel dining worker in New York claims that Marriott International and The Ritz Carlton owe him and other employees wages for room-service surcharges and time spent working off the clock.

Humberto Ramirez, a former server and banquet worker at The Ritz Carlton in White Plains, N.Y., sued the hotels Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Ramirez alleges that Marriott, the world’s largest hotel operator, and The Ritz Carlton are liable as joint employers for violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York labor and business laws.
