Madison Square Garden Resolves Background Check Case (Corrected)

Madison Square Garden’s proposed $1.28 million class settlement to resolve claims over its new-hire screening processes has received a Manhattan federal court’s final approval.

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York certified Aug. 7 a Fair Credit Reporting Act settlement class of 508 members denied employment with MSG based on findings in their criminal background check reports.

A subclass, dubbed the “NYC Class,” is comprised of members who MSG denied employment to as a result of their failure to fully disclose criminal histories. The class periods run from Apr. 26, 2015, and May 8, 2014, respectively, ...
