High court justices often appeared swayed by arguments made Oct. 3 that a long-haul trucker seeking to recoup underpaid wages shouldn’t be forced into arbitration.

Congress meant to exclude interstate transportation workers like Dominic Oliveira from the Federal Arbitration Act’s coverage and enforcement, regardless of their status as an independent contractor or employee, Jennifer Bennett, the attorney who presented the argument for Oliveira, said.
