GE, Canon Tell Court No Damage From Phishing-Related Data Breach

General Electric Co. and Canon Business Process Services Inc. want a federal judge in New York to dismiss a proposed class action brought by a former GE employee, saying an alleged data breach last year didn’t harm him.

A third party’s phishing scheme in February 2020 accessed an active CBPS email inbox, but the breach only affected certain GE employees based on the emails present in the inbox at the time, the companies told the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York Thursday.
