Fiat Fights VW-Like Diesel Claims While Negotiating Settlement

Fiat Chrysler USA, some drivers of its Dodge diesel trucks, and regulators will meet in January to discuss a possible deal aimed at settling a class action suit that accuses the carmaker of rigging engines to hide emissions.

Fiat and lawyers for the drivers, seeking to represent 150,000 buyers of the trucks, exchanged preliminary settlement terms Dec. 19 in San Francisco ahead of a two-hour court hearing over the U.S. automaker’s motion to dismiss the case. The proposed terms weren’t publicly disclosed.
