Lock Haven University students who accused the school of violating Title IX after learning of planned cuts to its women’s varsity sports teams can proceed with their lawsuit.
Although some of the planned cuts are off the table, the students offered enough evidence to move toward trial on their claim that the Pennsylvania public school fails to accommodate the athletic interests or abilities of its female students, Judge Matthew W. Brann of the Middle District of Pennsylvania found. He denied the university’s summary judgment motion May 7.
