DuPont, 3M Will Defend Water Contamination Case in Federal Court

E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Co., 3M Co., and others convinced a federal district court in Delaware that it has jurisdiction over a class action alleging they’re responsible for groundwater contamination in that state.

The plaintiffs alleged that their health and property were harmed when the defendants caused the groundwater in Blades, Del., to be contaminated with perfluorinated chemicals.

The suit was originally filed in a Delaware state court, but 3M removed it to the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, saying federal jurisdiction was proper under the Class Actions Fairness Act. The plaintiffs sought remand ...
