Comcast Customer Beats Arbitration Bid for Credit Report Claim

Comcast can’t force a former customer in Georgia to arbitrate class claims alleging the company improperly accessed his consumer report because they don’t relate to his previous contract, the Northern District of Georgia said.

Michael Hearn, a former customer, sued Comcast Cable Communications LLC, alleging that a Comcast representative performed an unauthorized “hard pull” of his consumer report when he called in March 2019 to inquire about services. The report was pulled even though he wasn’t a customer at the time and didn’t request any services before or after.
