Chevrolet Dealership Escapes Truth-in-Lending Class Action

An Ohio Chevrolet dealership beat class certification July 5 of a customer’s claims that its financing practices violated federal and state consumer law.

The customer didn’t show that any other potential class members were injured in the same way he was, Judge Sara Lioi wrote for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

He only argued they suffered a technical violation of the Truth in Lending Act because the dealership didn’t include required language on its retail installment sale contracts, the court said.
