American Airlines, Pilots Seek Department of Defense Pay Data

American Airlines Inc. and hundreds of pilots suing for paid military leave and benefits jointly asked a federal judge in Pennsylvania to approve a subpoena seeking military pay data from the Department of Defense.

The parties want the department to produce records showing each pilot’s branch and period of military service and the compensation they received for that service. They want this information to calculate the pilots’ requested remedy of differential pay—the difference between the compensation American allegedly should have paid them and what they actually received for their service.
