Wake Up Call: Fox Corp. Sports Unit Attorney to Replace Departing GC

  • Fox Corp. promoted in-house attorney Claudia Teran to executive vice president and corporate general counsel, a day after announcing the departure of current GC Rita Tuzon. Teran, who keeps her role as Fox Sports general counsel, will also supervise business and legal affairs for Fox Corp.'s entertainment assets, as well as for acquisitions, content distribution, digital, privacy, advertising, and music rights. She reports to Viet D. Dinh, the company’s chief legal and policy officer. (PR Newswire)

  • Tuzon, Fox Corp.'s outgoing GC, has been at the company over two decades and is leaving months after Fox Corp. was spun off into a stand-alone company in the $71 billion merger in March of 21st Century Fox and The Walt Disney Co.   • Clark Hill added a former top attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission and DOJ, Russell Duncan, as a member of the firm’s litigation business unit in Washington. Duncan’s been a partner at Orrick and Wiley Rein, and was most recently a shareholder at Shulman, Rogers, where he was chair of the white collar, SEC enforcement, and government investigations group and deputy chair of the litigation department.   • Wiley Rein added financial services attorney and former Maryland federal prosecutor Antonio J. Reynolds as a partner in Washington in the firm’s telecom, media & technology practice. According to his LinkedIn, he was previously a partner at Buckley Sandler and spent time as a Cleary associate. (WileyRein.com)

  • Haynes and Boone added IP litigators Ralph Gabric and Laura Beth Miller as partners in Chicago. Both were previously shareholders at Brinks Gilson and Lione, where Gabric spent 31 years and was most recently a board member and litigation practice chair.   • Digital contract management startup Clause got $5.5 million in a Series A funding round led by Galaxy Digital, a digital assets merchant bank, with electronic signature leader Docusign and others also investing, according to reports. (Coindesk)
