Todd Grice joined Bacardi Limited from Coca-Cola as general counsel and senior vice president to replace former general counsel Eduardo Sanchez.
Grice will oversee legal strategy, governance and compliance, strategic transactions, and other regulatory matters. He plans to relocate to Hamilton, Bermuda.
In an email, Grice said on Thursday that he was meeting new colleagues and getting settled in.
“From there, my immediate focus is to help the company navigate today’s ever-changing industry—from closures of venues to new regulations—so that we can adapt quickly to protect and innovate our business,” Grice said.
Bacardi is “the world’s largest privately held spirits company” and is known for its white rum of the same name, which is distilled in Puerto Rico. The Bermuda-based company also owns Grey Goose vodka, among other brands.
“I’ve always admired the global, premium brands under the Bacardi company and have such a strong regard for how a family-owned business maintains a passion for its people, its business and its brands while spanning decades of industry leadership,” Grice said in his email.
Grice was most recently the associate general counsel of corporate finance and M&A for Coca-Cola, where he worked for nearly two decades in positions around the world.
Sanchez retired after spending 17 years at Bacardi. During that time, he led the company through a years-long trademark battle with rival distiller Pernod Ricard SA, based in Paris, over the rights to Havana Club branded Cuban rum.
