The owners of a St. Louis-area landfill that is contaminated with radioactive waste are looking to a Manhattan Project contractor to help pay the cleanup costs at the Superfund site.
Their target is Everzinc USA Inc., the successor company of African Metals Corp., which provided uranium ore for the Manhattan Project, the U.S.-led effort during World War II to develop the first atomic bomb.
