SEC’s Jackson Intrigued by ‘Cool’ Crypto Security Rating System

A cryptocurrency industry tool for determining whether a digital asset is a security has the attention of SEC Commissioner Robert Jackson.

The Democratic-leaning independent told Bloomberg Law he thought the rating system was “cool,” after hearing about it earlier this year.

Coinbase Inc., Kraken, and other crypto firms started the Crypto Rating Council and released the framework this fall in an effort to assist digital-token developers looking to comply with federal securities laws.
