Patent Office Nabs Gaming Attorney to Fill General Counsel Slot

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has appointed David L. Berdan as general counsel.

Berdan will take the reins as patent office general counsel after serving as general counsel and compliance officer for Gaming Arts LLC, a company that provides technology for electronic gaming machines, the agency said in an announcement Tuesday.

In his new role, Berdan will serve as the PTO director’s principal legal adviser while supervising the Office of General Counsel and component offices, including the Office of the Solicitor.
