Pandemic Insurance Proposal Pits NFL, Retailers Against Insurers

The National Football League and industry groups that represent companies hit hard by the coronavirus such as Texas Roadhouse Inc. restaurants, Macy’s Inc. and Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. are mobilizing to put pandemic insurance on Congress’ radar.

The lobbying push includes a virtual Zoom “fly-in” to Capitol Hill offices this week by business franchisees from around the country and is intended to build broader support for a proposal that faces resistance from the insurance industry and some Republicans.
