Obama Library Land Transfer to Avoid Supreme Court Review

The U.S. Supreme Court won’t review Chicago’s decision to give public land to the Obama Foundation for the planned Obama Presidential Center it announced Monday.

Protect Our Parks Inc. argued that the city and the Chicago Park District violated the state’s public trust doctrine when they “gave away nearly 20 acres” of land in Jackson Park and public money to build a museum, public library branch, an athletic center, and more. The project doesn’t service the public interest, but the private interest of the foundation, the group says.
