Northern N.Y. Federal Court Has Had Enough of ‘Copyright Troll’

Alleged “copyright troll” attorney Richard Liebowitz could be removed from the roll of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York based on its recommendation Tuesday.

The court also sanctioned him for inflating an attorneys’ fee request in a copyright case, based in part on his history of misconduct.

Liebowitz has filed over 1,000 copyright infringement complaints on behalf of photographers, and has been subject to sanctions and disciplinary action in multiple jurisdictions.
