NBA’s Warriors Lose Bid to Toss Staffer’s Wrongful Firing Suit

The Golden State Warriors failed to shake off a former senior account executive’s wrongful discharge, disability discrimination, and retaliation claims after the Northern District of California found disputed evidence as to why he was fired.

Evidence Nicholas Smith was fired shortly after returning from disability leave, within days of asking for accommodations, and on the heels of a complaint he made to a supervisor of a hostile work environment and failure to pay overtime raise material questions of fact that can’t be resolved on summary judgment, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California said Tuesday.
