Milwaukee Bucks player Giannis Antetokounmpo is entitled to a permanent injunction against a company that allegedly sold spices which infringed Antetokounmpo’s intellectual property rights in his nickname, the “Greek Freak,” a federal judge recommended.
Antetokounmpo, who was born in Athens, obtained federal trademark registrations for variations on his nickname, which he’s licensed to various brands. The NBA star has filed a number of lawsuits over these marks, including one alleging that Paleo Productions LLC and its chief executive officer Nick Massie marketed and sold a spice called “Greek Freak” without his authorization.
