Minor League Baseball Teams Lose Suit Over Virus Loss Coverage

A group of Minor League Baseball teams failed to win Nationwide insurance payouts for financial losses tied to the pandemic, after a judge found that their policies exclude virus-caused damage.

The group, consisting of more than a dozen farm clubs, fell short of showing that a force other than the coronavirus— like Major League Baseball’s refusal to supply players to its affiliates— caused their losses, Judge Douglas L. Rayes ruled Friday.
