McDermott Will & Emery announced April 13 it has added Bilal Sayyed as a partner in its antitrust group in Washington, D.C.
Sayyed joins the firm from Kirkland & Ellis, where he was a partner for approximately five years. Earlier in his career, he worked as an attorney in the Federal Trade Commission from 2001 to 2005.
His practice involves representing companies before the FTC on competition and consumer-side issues and in front of the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
“It’s a great time to be an antitrust lawyer,” he said, explaining that after a lull in merger activity in the first decade of the century, there now are many opportunities for antitrust review.
At McDermott, he joins an antitrust practice group with about 70 lawyers.
