Justice Department Counters Apple, Intel Antitrust Patent Claims

The Trump administration has urged a California federal court to toss Intel Corp. and Apple Inc.’s claims that a SoftBank Group Corp. subsidiary violated federal antitrust law by stockpiling patents and making aggressive licensing demands.

The tech giants haven’t alleged facts showing that Fortress Investment Group LLC’s aggregation of electronics patents hurts competition, the Justice Department’s antitrust division said in a court filing.
