Extradition of Maduro’s Alleged Dealmaker to U.S. Is Approved

The extradition of Alex Saab, a Colombian businessman linked to Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro, to the U.S. has been approved by a Cape Verde court, his lawyer Baltazar Garzon said in a statement.

The decision to extradite Saab was approved by Cape Verde authorities on July 31 but announced Monday, according to a statement by his lawyers, who described the ruling as “disturbing,” “arbitrary and illegal.” His lawyers said they will appeal within the next 10 days.
