Exelon Makes Another Push to Save Illinois Nuclear Plants

Exelon Corp. is making another push to save the money-losing Illinois nuclear power plants the utility says it will shutter unless the state provides financial support.

The largest operator of U.S. nuclear generators said legislation designed to keep its Quad Cities and Clinton nuclear facilities operating was filed Nov. 15.

The measure, dubbed the “Future Energy Jobs Bill,” would also double energy efficiency programs, increase the development of wind and solar power and provide $1 billion in funding for low-income programs, the Chicago-based company said in an e-mailed statement.
