Ex-NFL Official Alleges Retaliation Over Fraud Claims

The National Football League and a non-profit sports organization retaliated against a long-time referee for reporting financial irregularities by a chapter of the Texas Association of Sports Officials, a new lawsuit alleges.

Joe Machol is a professional referee with 38 years of experience officiating scholastic and NFL games, including running the game clock for two Super Bowls. He says he was removed as the president of TASO’s Houston football chapter and terminated by the NFL after exposing alleged mail and wire fraud violations by the non-profit association chapter.
