Ex-Judge Disbarred for Aiding Wife’s Early Prison Release Scheme

A former Virginia state judge who helped his wife lie to federal prison officials by fabricating her alcohol addiction to have her released early was disbarred under a consent order.

The Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board accepted Kurt Joseph Pomrenke’s affidavit consenting to have his license revoked at the end of December.

The Abingdon, Virginia, lawyer’s misconduct stemmed from his wife’s 2016 trial on federal fraud charges.
