Tara Lee, the global co-chair of DLA Piper’s investigations practice, has joined Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, the firm said on Wednesday.
Lee, who was also global chair of DLA Piper’s cross border litigation department, will practice out of Quinn Emanuel’s Washington, D.C. office as a partner.
“White collar and investigations is the firm’s fastest growing practice,” said Quinn Emanuel managing partner John Quinn in a statement.
Reached Wednesday, a DLA Piper spokesman wished Lee well. Any clients Lee may be taking with her could not be determined.
A 1996 graduate of the University of San Diego Law School, Lee was also named managing partner of DLA Piper’s Northern Virginia office in 2012.
Prior to law school, she served in the U.S. Navy in a helicopter squadron and in staff positions at Wing and AirPac level commands.
In a statement, Lee pointed to Quinn Emanuel’s “integrated global platform” and “record of trying cases” as reasons for her move. Quinn Emanuel said in a press release that firm lawyers have tried more than 2,400 cases, and won 88 percent of them.
