Caesars’ Pension Win Lets Judges Mull New Linguistics Database

Caesars Entertainment Corp. defeated a pension plan’s lawsuit seeking about $2 million in withdrawal liability after the closure of the company’s Showboat casino in Atlantic City, N.J.

Caesars continued contributing to the pension fund on behalf of its other Atlantic City properties after the Showboat’s 2014 closure, the Third Circuit said. The company therefore didn’t withdraw from the pension fund and doesn’t owe extra money for withdrawal liability, the court said in an Aug. 1 decision by Judge Thomas M. Hardiman.
