Buchanan Enters Race To Be Top Ways and Means Republican

Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.) said Thursday that he would run to be the top Republican on the House Ways and Means Committee after current ranking member Kevin Brady (R-Texas) announced that he would retire at the end of next year.

• Buchanan is currently the top Republican on the Trade Subcommittee of the Ways and Means Committee. He previously served as chair of the Tax Subcommittee of Ways and Means during the drafting of the 2017 tax law that originated as a bill from Republicans on the committee.
