Bird Rides Gets Georgia Scooter Injury Suit Sent to Arbitration

A man injured when his rented Bird Rides Inc. scooter allegedly malfunctioned and tossed him into a street in midtown Atlanta will have to arbitrate his claims, a federal court in Georgia ruled Tuesday.

Bird presented solid evidence that Simon Clopton accepted the electronic rental agreement, including its arbitration clause, Judge Charles A. Pannell Jr. said for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

Clopton’s argument that the arbitration clause is unconscionable is for the arbitrator to rule on, the court said.
