Governor Vetoes Wisconsin Ban on Workplace Vaccine Mandates (1)

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers has vetoed state lawmakers’ sweeping virus-response legislation, which included a ban on employers mandating Covid-19 vaccines for their workers.

The bill, known as AB 1, gained final passage from the GOP-majority state legislature with a Senate vote on Friday. Evers followed through on a promised veto within about two hours. The measure had also contained liability limits aimed at protecting businesses from lawsuits related to a customer’s or worker’s exposure to Covid-19, similar to liability shield measures enacted in more than a dozen states last year and under consideration in more than 20 this year.
