Barclays Plc appointed Stephen Shapiro as its general counsel, replacing Bob Hoyt, who will step down in August after nearly seven years in the role.
Shapiro will also keep his current role as company secretary, the London-based bank said in a statement Wednesday. He’ll report to Chief Executive Officer Jes Staley and Chairman Nigel Higgins. Hoyt will remain at Barclays until the end of 2020 in a vice-chairman role advising Staley.
