ANALYSIS: Makeup of ESG Teams Show Frequent HR, C-Suite Presence

The “social” and “governance” aspects of ESG have received heightened attention this year, as evidenced by human capital-focused changes to the SEC’s Regulation S-K and board diversity requirements in certain states and for Nasdaq-listed companies. And it’s also demonstrated through the latest results from the Bloomberg Law ESG 2020 Survey.

The roles most frequently represented on organizations’ environmental, social, and governance teams or committees are members of the C-suite (71%) and the human resources department (54%), according to the survey of 74 corporate attorneys and 26 law firm practitioners with knowledge of their organizations’ ESG programs.
