Airbnb, HomeAway Settle San Francisco Suit Over Short-Term Rentals

San Francisco settled with Airbnb Inc. and Expedia-owned HomeAway in the the short-term rental sharing platforms’ lawsuit over a city regulatory scheme, City Attorney Dennis Herrera said May 1 ( Airbnb, Inc. v. City and County of San Francisco, N.D. Cal., No. 3:16-cv-03615, settlement signed 5/1/17).

Airbnb has lawsuits across the country challenging local laws attempting to regulate short-term rental platforms. The San Francisco settlement will set precedent for how that litigation gets resolved, city officials told reporters.
