Florida will allow lawyers licensed elsewhere but based there to work remotely across state lines so long as they stick to the law they’re authorized to practice.
The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday adopted a proposal by the state bar that makes it easier for lawyers to ethically conduct certain remote work, an issue percolating for years but gaining more favor amid the pandemic.
The opinion “represents a small step towards recognizing the reality of the contemporary practice of law, both generally and in the context of the pandemic,” said Jan Jacobowitz, a legal ethics consultant in Miami.
