ANALYSIS: Vermont Tweaks Privacy Law, from Yawn to Bust

Privacy legislation that has lumbered its way through Vermont’s General Assembly for more than a year was signed into law by Gov. Phil Scott on March 5 without a press release and without fanfare. Like a crimson leaf falling from a maple tree, S.110 appears to have dropped without a sound, perhaps with good reason. Had it generated a sound, it most likely would have been a thud.

The new law offers a hodgepodge of updates and upgrades that—while certainly of interest to privacy professionals—do not (and apparently did not) rally pro-privacy advocates as boldly as has the ballot initiative...
