ANALYSIS: Labor Strife Soon at American Airlines? Cool Your Jets

The union contract for some 15,000 pilots at American Airlines has an expiration date of Nov. 30, with no sign of a quick resolution. But don’t cancel those holiday travel plans just yet: The odds of a pilots’ strike are extremely low, thanks to the legal safeguards that apply to interstate air carriers.

That’s good news, because American and its pilots have some litigious issues to deal with as they negotiate their new agreement.
