Sex Bias Lawsuit Winners Fight John Varvatos Bankruptcy Sale

John Varvatos Enterprises Inc.'s proposed bankruptcy sale to an affiliate of Lion Capital LLC is under fire from a class of female employees seeking to collect a $3.5 million judgment in a sex discrimination suit.

The women, who won a jury trial in February over claims that the designer denied them a clothing allowance provided to male associates, are pushing to collect the judgment ahead of a proposal by Lion Hendrix Cayman Ltd. to buy the fashion company outright by forgiving $76 million in existing debt.
