PG&E Under Criminal Investigation for Deadly 2018 Camp Fire

PG&E Corp. is under criminal investigation in Butte County over the deadliest fire in California’s history, according to a lawyer representing victims of the 2018 blaze.

In a bankruptcy hearing April 9, Dario de Ghetaldi told the judge that there’s a grand jury investigating possible criminal actions by PG&E related to the Camp fire, which raged across Northern California for two weeks in November, destroying the town of Paradise, killing 85 people and prompting PG&E to file for Chapter 11. PG&E has previously said its equipment will probably be blamed as an ignition point for the blaze.
