PetSmart, Lenders Face Off Over Documents in Chewy Asset Dispute

Lawyers for PetSmart Inc. have until Jan. 28 to justify their refusal to turn over documents as part of litigation related to the asset shuffle that moved valuable parts of the struggling retailer beyond the reach of creditors.

U.S. District Judge Denise Cote set the deadline at a status conference Jan. 25, while denying a similar request by PetSmart for documents from the creditors challenging the asset transfer. The retailer had asked for the lenders’ internal analyses of PetSmart’s finances, but that request is irrelevant because the company already has that information as it’s in possession of its own data,...
