Patrick Signs Massachusetts Bill Expanding
Foreclosure Aid for Borrowers, Tenants

BOSTON—Legislation that would establish mortgage fraud as a crime and put in place consumer protections in the area of reverse mortgages was signed into law by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) on Aug. 7.

The bill (S. 2407) also extends the period during which a homeowner has the right to cure a default of a mortgage payment to 150 days, and creates new protections for tenants renting apartments in foreclosed buildings.
