Maremont Faces Opposition Over Asbestos Claims Representative

Autoparts maker Maremont Corp. needs to disclose more information about the attorney it selected to represent future asbestos claimants in a Chapter 11 case, a federal watchdog said.

The U.S. Trustee will ask the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware Feb. 25 to deny Maremont’s proposed asbestos claims representative unless the company provides more information on potential conflicts and ways to avoid them.

Maremont and three subsidiaries filed a prepackaged Chapter 11 case Jan. 22 to resolve all current and future asbestos claims. The plan calls for channeling all asbestos personal injury claims to a newly created trust. ...
