Exide Seeks Plan Confirmation as California Demands Site Cleanup

Exide Holdings Inc. is urging a bankruptcy court to confirm its amended Chapter 11 plan after California withdrew its support and renewed demands that the battery maker clean up a defunct recycling facility in the state.

A global settlement incorporated in the revised plan, filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, resolves Exide’s disputes with 13 out of 14 of the company’s environmental regulators, with California Environmental Protection Agency’s Department of Toxic Substances Control being the sole holdout.
