Exide Gets Nod for Bankruptcy Sale Over Objections From EPA

Battery manufacturer Exide Holdings Inc. can hold its bankruptcy sale after a court overruled objections from the Environmental Protection Agency and state regulators seeking greater input on the company’s site cleanup responsibilities.

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on Thursday approved Exide’s bidding procedures for the sale of its North American, European, and other overseas assets.

Judge Christopher S. Sontchi also said he would approve the company’s $40 million debtor-in-possession financing and continued use of cash collateral by Friday if no other party raised substantial objections before then.
