Blue Cross Michigan Can’t Avoid Purchaser’s Health Plan Fee Suit

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan must face a lawsuit over its health plan fees by a company who purchased the assets of several bankrupt employers that had health plans administered by the insurer, a federal judge in Detroit ruled.

Oak Point Partners LLC has standing to sue the insurer over the hidden fees it charged to self-funded health plans, Judge David M. Lawson of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan ruled Tuesday.
