For Wall Streeters with itchy feet, the best time to find a new job is typically now -- just after annual bonus checks clear. Not so this time.

Bankers and traders looking to jump to a rival firm, or at least turn a competing offer into a quick raise, are suddenly finding the game is getting harder as fears of the coronavirus put the hiring process on hold, according to recruiters. The hurdles began appearing weeks ago in Asia and are expected to appear in Europe and New York imminently as the outbreak spreads.
