SEC Nominee Pledges Strong Enforcement at Senate Hearing (1)

President Donald Trump’s nominee for an open SEC seat told the Senate Banking Committee July 24 he supports a “strong enforcement program” at the agency amid Democrats’ questions about the commission’s resolve to fight wrongdoing.

Elad Roisman declined to say whether he thinks recent Securities and Exchange Commission penalties have been meaningful enough to deter bad behavior in the securities industry when pressed by Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), the committee’s ranking member. The Republican said each case presents unique facts and circumstances.
