Groups Ask Court to Halt CFPB Task Force on Consumer Finance Law

Consumer advocates have asked a court to dismantle a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau task force that they fear will call for rolling back federal laws and regulations.

The CFPB’s Taskforce on Federal Consumer Financial Law is stacked with industry backers and has conducted its work without any meaningful public input, the National Association of Consumer Advocates and the U.S. Public Interest Research Group said in a complaint filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
