Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s regulator predicted the companies won’t be ready to raise money from outside investors until the end of next year at the earliest.
Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Mark Calabria said Sept. 16 that the soonest the mortgage giants could “go to the market” is the fourth quarter of 2020. Speaking in a Bloomberg Television interview, he said it’s more likely that a fundraising would slip until 2021. He said it’s too early to say how the companies would raise funds, such as through share sales.
